Abstract
"The authors have reviewed several reports on vasectomy and have done follow-up studies on 34 of 63 persons who had vasectomy for sterility since 1957. There is little influence by the vasectomy on such sexual conditions as volume of ejaculate, the time of sexual relation, sexual feeling, libido, and the sexual feeling of their wives. It requires approximately a month for the clearance of sperm from the seminal fluid following vasectomy. No spermatogenesis is halted by the vasectomy, nor does hyperplasia of Leydig cells occur. No changes in the secondary sexual characters occur, nor does the reproductive deficiency involve the endocrine component of the testis by the vasectomy. From these results, it was concluded that the sexual life and the hormone metabolism were little influenced by the vasectomy. The authors have also presented a modified operative technique for the vasectomy."
